Sweden Deposits Instrument of Ratification for UPC Agreement

June 2014

Sweden has become the 3rd member state to officially ratify the agreement on the proposed Unified Patent Court, after France and Austria.

Sweden also plans to establish a Nordic-Baltic regional division of the UPC, together with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

The Nordic Baltic division will have its seat in Stockholm but allows for a flexible set-up when it comes to oral hearings.

When it is justified, considering the nationalities of the parties, oral hearings will be held also in other parts of the region. The division will use only English as the language of proceedings.
