Experience

Aron holds a PhD in molecular and cellular biology and works on a diverse range of largely nucleotide, peptide and cell-based technologies. He has in-depth knowledge of plants and algae, gene editing and DNA repair, and a special interest in food and drink technologies with unique organoleptic properties. He is involved in the Food Technology, Agritech and Gene Editing sector specialisms within the Life Sciences group.

He has six years of research experience, having developed a novel gene-editing technique and studied the DNA repair pathways involved in the model green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. His work also included plant-based transient gene expression and first-author publications in high-impact journals including Nature Communications and PNAS. During and after his PhD, he worked at a startup specialising in the microalgae-based food industry.

Aron graduated from The University of Edinburgh with an honours degree in Biological Sciences specialising in plant science. He completed an undergraduate internship in wheat genetics at the John Innes Centre. He has a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics and a PhD from the same university. He joined HGF in 2023.
