Experience

Neil's patent practice is primarily focused on the pharmaceutical and agrochemical fields. He specialises in drafting and prosecuting patent applications covering new chemical entities, salts/co-crystals, polymorphs, formulations, intermediates, manufacturing processes, medical uses, and non-medical uses.

Neil entered the IP profession in 2007 and spent 17 years as in-house counsel in biotech/biopharma, chemical and agrochemical companies of varying sizes, working across a variety of technology groups and the entire IP and product life cycle.

Neil leverages his in-house experience to provide commercially-minded advice in relation to all patent matters. He has extensive experience in advising on IP strategy, freedom to operate, (in)validity and patentability analyses, in running contentious proceedings, inc. EP opposition & appeal, the negotiation & drafting of IP-related agreements, in due-diligence support of licensing and acquisition deals, supplementary protection certificates/Patent Term Extensions, Loss of Exclusivity assessments, and the strategic use of IP in highly competitive commercial environments.
